Clue in 28 Years Later Teaser Hints at Full Trailer Release Date

HOTGISTLOADED

The teaser for 28 Years Later, the long-awaited sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, dropped on Friday, sparking excitement and intrigue among fans. While the 23-second video is filled with cryptic visuals, one major detail has caught the attention of viewers — a hidden message in morse code. After decoding, fans believe the message translates to "Tuesday," leading many to speculate that the full trailer will be released on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

This sequel, written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle, is scheduled for release on June 20, 2025, and it promises to continue the gripping story of the "Rage Virus." The teaser gives us a glimpse of eerie imagery, including an aerial shot of an island, red skulls, a biohazard symbol, and a scarecrow with an arrow through its head. Along with this teaser, the first poster was also revealed, showcasing the red skulls arranged in a biohazard symbol. The tagline, "Time didn’t heal anything," sets a haunting tone for what’s to come.

28 Years Later stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes. Fans are also thrilled to see Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Jim, the bike courier from the first film, who had been absent in 28 Weeks Later. This time, Murphy returns not only as a lead actor but also as an executive producer.

The plot centers on Britain, 28 years after the outbreak of the "Rage Virus," in a world where a few pockets of uninfected survivors still remain. According to Fiennes, who shared details about his character in an interview with IndieWire, the story follows a young boy trying to save his dying mother. Together, they journey through northern England, navigating a landscape haunted by the infected. Along the way, they encounter a doctor who, though initially mysterious, proves to be a force for good.

The original 28 Days Later hit theaters in 2002, and 28 Weeks Later followed in 2007. After a long wait, 28 Years Later is set to kick off a new trilogy, with 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple already in the works. Both films were shot back-to-back using an iPhone, adding an unconventional twist to the production process.

Fans are eager to see what’s next, and with the trailer potentially dropping as soon as Tuesday, December 10, excitement is building for the sequel's release. Until then, you can revisit the earlier films—28 Days Later is available for streaming on Apple TV, and 28 Weeks Later is on Hulu.
