Tension Soars as APC, PDP Governors Clash Over Oil Revenue Sharing |
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has stated that the state has not yet benefited from the increased revenue generated by the oil sector, as the remittances are not being properly credited to the Federation Account.
Mohammed has called on the Federal Government to provide a clear and detailed explanation to the public regarding why the revenues collected are not being adequately remitted for distribution and sharing among the three tiers of government, as required by law.
The governor made these remarks during a courtesy visit by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, at the government house. The visit was part of preparations for the 2024 National Conference on Finance and Economic Development, currently underway in Bauchi.
He emphasized that it is nothing short of miraculous that states have not seen any benefits from the current oil revenues, despite Nigeria being one of the world's largest oil producers.
