Nigeria Customs Service Opens Applications for 2025 Recruitment (Full Guide)



The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially opened applications for its 2025 recruitment exercise. The Service is inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for positions in its Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant cadres. This recruitment drive aims to enhance trade facilitation and strengthen the nation’s economic recovery efforts.

Positions and Requirements

The recruitment is open to fill 3,927 vacancies, as approved by the Customs Board. Below are the eligibility criteria for each cadre:

  1. Superintendent Cadre:

    • University degree or Higher National Diploma (HND).

    • National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge or Exemption Certificate.

  2. Inspectorate Cadre:

    • National Diploma (ND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from an accredited institution.

  3. Customs Assistant Cadre:

    • O’Level qualification (WAEC or NECO).

Additional requirements include:

  • Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.

  • Possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN).

  • No criminal record or ongoing investigations.

  • Evidence of medical fitness from a recognized government hospital.

APPLICATION PROCESS


Application Process

The application portal (https://recruitment.customs.gov.ng) opened on December 27, 2024, and will close on January 2, 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications promptly.

Important Notice

The NCS has emphasized that the recruitment process is FREE and fair. Applicants are advised to beware of scammers demanding payment at any stage of the process. “If anyone demands payment, they are scammers,” the NCS warned.

The decision to expand the NCS workforce was made during the 61st quarterly board meeting held on December 18, 2024, at the Customs House in Abuja. The move aligns with the government’s focus on enhancing revenue generation, as outlined in the 2025 budget titled “A Budget of Restoration.”

The Customs’ contribution to the national revenue exceeded N5 trillion as of November 2024. This recruitment drive is expected to further bolster the agency’s capacity to support economic growth.
