U.S. politicians intensify their criticism of Nigeria for illegally detaining a Binance executive.

American hero Tigran Gambaryan. He spent ten years working for his country as an IRS special agent, utilizing his advanced cyber talents to dismantle internet criminal organizations. He continued to track and report terrorists while working in private practice at Binance with law enforcement and other cryptocurrency companies. He was taken as a prisoner by government agents in Nigeria in February after arriving there as a representative of Binance and being detained on pretenses.
Gambaryan, who has pneumonia and malaria, as well as his wife and young children at home in Georgia, have had a difficult time of it. Since U.S. congressmen French Hill (R-Ark.) and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.) visited Gambaryan in Nigeria's Kuje jail, which also houses members of the infamous Boko Haram terrorist group, last week, the outrageous situation has mostly remained under the radar. Commentators labeled Gambaryan as the nation's economic mismanager. They claimed there was proof that other business executives had started to steer clear of Nigeria due to concerns about "state-sanctioned kidnapping.
All of this probably made Nigeria's administration regret its ill-fated choice to kidnap Gambaryan. The decision by the Biden administration to maintain pressure on Nigerian authorities must be watched closely. Previously, the administration refrained from doing so, most likely because Gambary's present company, Binance, had a track record of flouting US regulations. That's a legitimate worry, but in Gambaryan's instance, he was a member of US law enforcement. In his hour of need, the country he served shouldn't abandon him.
